Setups
Create plugin chains in StudioRack: ‘Native’ Mode
In this simplest configuration, plugin processing is handled 'natively' by your computer's CPU. You can use StudioRack to create plugin chains with as little as a computer running your DAW of choice, and any audio interface (ASIO/Core Audio, including your computer's sound card).
Components:
A computer running a DAW and StudioRack
Any audio interface (ASIO/Core Audio), including your computer's internal sound card
Offload plugin processing from your computer via StudioRack
If you wish, you can use StudioRack in SG (SoundGrid) mode, where plugin processing is offloaded from your computer's CPU to a SoundGrid DSP server (sold separately). Offloading to a SoundGrid server enables you to mix with more plugins than your computer might be able to handle. For this purpose, you do not need to add a dedicated SoundGrid audio interface: you can use the interface you already have.
Components:
A computer running a DAW, StudioRack, and the SoundGrid Studio application configured with the SoundGrid Driver
Offload plugin processing from your computer + monitor and record with plugins in real time
This advanced setup adds real-time monitoring & recording capabilities to your setup. This is done by adding a SoundGrid DSP server, a SoundGrid audio interface (both connected to your computer with Ethernet cables, via a SoundGrid-compatble Ethernet switch), and the free SoundGrid Studio application to control your SoundGrid setup.
Components:
A computer running a DAW, StudioRack, and the SoundGrid Studio application
