Product, Setups, Support
Come to the Show Prepared: Set Up Your LV1 Mixer Sessions Offline, Anytime, Anywhere.
This software is an offline Session Editor for the Waves eMotion LV1 live mixer. It helps you save time, and probably money, by allowing you to complete your most time-intensive prep tasks offline, before you arrive at the venue.
You can configure every aspect of the eMotion LV1 mixer session you’ll be using at your show, from any computer, anywhere. When you get to the venue, load the offline session file in your main LV1 software. All session information will be in place, so you’ll just need to connect I/Os and assign servers and controllers.
The LV1 Session Editor has the exact same interface as the main version of the LV1 software mixer, so moving a session between the two is transparent. You can save an LV1 session from the main LV1, edit it offline in the Session Editor, resave it, and reload it in the main mixer. If you already have presets, you can incorporate these into your offline session.
Now you can configure all of the following ahead of the show, with just a laptop:
Assign and configure offline I/O devices and I/O control panels
Configure plugin racks; set and save plugin parameters
Configure all mixer preferences, custom layers, etc.
Create routing to, from, and between devices
Name all channels, buses, devices, and delay groups
Save all scenes and user-assigned keys

Setups
Please note: All information below refers to the full version of the eMotion LV1 live mixer. The eMotion LV1 Session Editor is identical to the full version of eMotion LV1, except it does not pass audio. To set up a fully operational LV1 system, use the full 64, 32, or 16 channel versions of LV1.
Typical eMotion LV1 Setup
An eMotion LV1 system consists of at least the following:
Host computer: Controls the eMotion LV1 mixer as well as the SoundGrid network that connects all devices. The eMotion LV1 application is located on this computer, as are your plugins and preset files. eMotion LV1 runs on both Mac and Windows and supports multiple displays
SoundGrid server: This is where your plugins are being processed. The power of the server has direct impact on the number of plugin instances you can run
At least one SoundGrid I/O: Ranging from 2-channel preamps to multiple 128-channel audio interfaces (such as the DiGiGrid MGB/MGO SoundGrid-to-MADI I/Os). All I/O devices are connected to the SoundGrid network via Ethernet
When multiple devices are used on stage, it is advisable to connect all of them to a single Ethernet switch that connects to the main switch. Daisy-chaining Ethernet connections in these setups is not advisable.
I/O Sharing Setup
In this setup, two eMotion LV1 systems are connected to the same SoundGrid network and are sharing stageboxes between front-of-house and the monitor position.
In this setup, the eMotion LV1 mixer is receiving audio from your MADI stagebox via a MADI-to-SoundGrid audio interface. Up to 128 audio channels are being streamed to the eMotion LV1 mixer in real time.
Host computer running the eMotion LV1 mixer
Second multi-touch screen for eMotion LV1 (optional)
Additional computer for playback/recording (optional)
In this setup, the eMotion LV1 mixer is used in conjunction with an Avid VENUE console. eMotion LV1 provides monitor mixes, while Avid VENUE provides the FOH mix. The two mixers are connected via a DiGiGrid DLI SoundGrid-to-Pro Tools audio interface.
Host computer (in this example – tablet) running the eMotion LV1 mixer
Additional computer for playback/recording (optional)
Waves mobile apps increase flexibility and efficiency when setting up and managing live sound events. These apps connect to eMotion LV1 via a private, dedicated wi-fi network.
Allows remote recall of pre-programmed scenes and snapshots
Compatible with iOS/Android phones and tablets
In this example, all three remote apps – MyFOH, MyMon and mRecall – are connected to eMotion LV1.
The front-of-house engineer is using MyFOH (3) to control selected functions of the eMotion LV1 mixer and adjust the FOH mix remotely, from various locations in the venue away from the FOH position.
Musicians on stage are controlling their own monitor mixes, independently of the FOH mix, via the MyMon app (5).
Scenes and snapshots can be recalled remotely via mRecall (4).
Loading plugins: To configure plugin settings in the LV1 Session Editor, you will need to install Waves plugins v14.12 and up. All installed plugins (including Dugan Speech) loaded within the Session Editor will load operational without audio, even if you don’t have the relevant plugin licenses on your machine (unlicensed plugins will load in demo mode).
Please note that when moving your session file to the full (online) eMotion LV1 mixer, you will also need the relevant plugins installed and licensed on the computer running the fully operation eMotion LV1.
Mixer/UI settings are saved locally to a preference file. When moving sessions to a different computer, please make sure to adjust the settings to your needs.
To load sessions saved from a different version of eMotion LV1 software, you will need install the latest session converters on your computer. Converters can be installed from Waves Central.
Adding offline devices: eMotion LV1 Session Editor V14 does not enable adding offline drivers as ‘placeholders’: only I/Os can be added as ‘placeholders.’ To program a session with external playback/recording computers, we advise you connect the playback/recording computers/devices to the same network switch as the computer running the eMotion LV1 Session Editor. They will be added as ‘Network’ drivers, and can be used similarly to offline I/Os.
MacPro models from 2012 and earlier are not supported with the current version.
Waves Plugins and applications are supported and tested on operating systems installed on the built-in system hard drive. Operating systems installed on external hard drives are not tested and may not be fully functional with our software.
The eMotion LV1 Session Editor is compatible with all SoundGrid I/Os. Any SoundGrid audio interface can be loaded as an offline ‘placeholder’ device.
