Follow the steps in this article to solve ‘Central has encountered a permissions issue’ errors in Waves Central. Try re-launching Waves Central after each step before continuing to the next one.
Step 1: Launch Waves Central as an Administrator
When Waves Central is launched for the first time, it must be done using an Administrator Windows or macOS user account.
Windows: If you are using a Windows administrator account but the issue persists, right-click on the Waves Central icon and click Run as administrator.
Step 2: Temporarily Disable Proxy
If you are connected to the internet via a proxy, temporarily disable it for the time you are using Waves Central. It does not affect plugin functionality in any way and can be re-enabled right after you are done with Waves Central:
Quit Waves Central.
Disable Proxy:
Windows: Go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click the LAN Settings button and uncheck 'Use proxy server for your LAN'.
Mac: Go to the System Preferences > Network > Advanced > Proxies tab. Under Proxies, make sure nothing is checked in the list.
Step 3: Set an Exclusion/Exception for Waves Central in Your Anti-Virus Software
Some Anti-Virus software may falsely detect and block Waves Central communications. In your AV software, set an exclusion/exception for:
Windows: C:\Program Files\Waves Central
Mac: Macintosh HD > Applications > Waves Central
Step 4: Reinstall Waves Central
Windows: Uninstall Waves Central from Control Panel > Programs and Features. Then, Download and install the latest Waves Central for Windows.
Mac: Uninstall Waves Central by dragging Waves Central from the Applications folder to the Trash. Then, Download and install the latest Waves Central for Mac.
Step 5: (Windows Only) Use an English Windows Account Name
Waves Central can only be launched when the Windows account name contains English characters only. If your Windows user account contains non-English characters, for example – letters in another language or special characters like apostrophes (‘) or ampersands (&) - please create a new Windows administrator user account and name it in English letters only. The products will work on any user account once installed.
